MPPEB scam: CM Chouhan to request Sonia to act against state Congress leaders
The MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said MNREGA has led to an increase in ‘income levels of rural poor’
Accusing Congress leaders led by Digvijaya Singh of hatching a conspiracy to destabilize him by leveling false allegations in the MPPEB scam, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday said he will seek time from Congress president Sonia Gandhi with a request to act against them.
“You are a woman, you know how bad a woman feels when false allegations are leveled against,” Chouhan said and added that allegations were leveled not only against him but also his wife Sadhna Singh who could not “sleep for nights”. “You can understand her pain. Is it a crime to be the CM’s wife?”

By seeking time to meet Sonia Gandhi, the CM is trying to do what Congress did to him by calling on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi. A Congress delegation had called on Modi and submitted what it called evidence of involvement of Chouhan and his family members in the scam.
Reacting to the high court order in the MPPEB scam, the CM said Congress leaders had stooped very low to tarnish his image because they could not harm him politically.
“I am CM for nearly 10 years because of people’s love,” he said accusing the AICC general secretary of having a mindset that thinks only of conspiracies.
Chouhan alleged that the Congress leaders wanted to mislead the investigation to “protect their own” who were involved in the scam and create an atmosphere of confusion and doubts. The CM claimed he was the one who contributed to exposing the scam.
