Sunil Narine barred from bowling off-spin in IPL
Sunil Narine will no longer be able to bowl the off spin at the IPL.
KKR spinner Sunil Narine has been banned from bowling his off-spin at the Indian Premier League (IPL) by the BCCI on Wednesday.
Therefore, Narine will have to look for other options like the knuckle ball and the straighter one.
Just in case he bowls an off spin it will be called a no-ball.
“Mr. Narine visited the Sri Ramachandra Arthroscopy and Sports Sciences Centre (SRASSC) in Chennai for a biomechanical analysis of his bowling action. The BCCI Suspect Bowling Action Committee has reviewed the evidence of the match footage and the analysis provided by SRASSC,” the media release by the BCCI said.
The bowling committee formed by the BCCI found that Narine’s action for off-spin deliveries ‘contravenes law.’
“Following the provisions of the IPL Suspected Illegal Bowling Action Policy, the committee has concluded that Mr. Narine’s bowling action for his off-spinner, contravenes Law 24.2 (as read with Law 24.3) of the Laws of Cricket and therefore the player is now banned from bowling the off-spinner in matches organised by the BCCI, including the IPL.”
Sunil Narine was reported for suspect bowling action in the match against SRH at Vizag on April 22nd for the second time in 7 months. Previously, he was reported and barred from bowling in the CLT20 held in September 2014.
