When Vidya Balan was slapped thrice by Rajkummar Rao

Recently, when Vidya Balan had to shoot for a sequence where her on screen husband Rajkummar Rao was to slap her, the actress stood firm while shooting for the same.

Actress Vidya Balan, who will be seen playing a victim of domestic violence in the upcoming movie ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani‘ has been crossing all hurdles bravely. Recently, when she had to shoot for a sequence where her on screen husband Rajkummar Rao was to slap her, the actress stood firm while shooting for the same.

Since the scene required Rajkummar to raise his hand on Vidya, he did not do it like a make believe scene, instead slapped her for real. Vidya, on the other hand did not move, while three retakes for the same scene were rolled.

A source told Hindustan Times: “Rajkumar plays Vidya’s husband in the film. While the slap was part of the script, no one was expecting him to actually hit her. Usually, when it comes to actions such as these, actors just shoot make-believe scenes. The camera makes it all look real. So, when he slapped her for the first time, everyone was shocked.”

“I actually jumped out of my seat, but then I realised that Vidya was holding the scene well. That’s when it donned on me that both the actors had planned this in advance to make the scene look authentic,” said Mohit Suri, director of the film.

‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani’ also stars actor Emraan Hashmi in a pivotal role.
