BJP set to hold ‘orientation camps’ for J&K legislators
Senior party leaders, including Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, may interact with participants at the workshop.
The BJP has decided to organise a “prashikshan shivir” or orientation workshop for party MPs and legislators from Jammu and Kashmir.
The workshop, to be held on May 8 and 9, will reportedly aim at improving the conduct of party legislators. It will be inaugurated by Ram Lal, BJP’s national general secretary, organisation, said sources. Senior party leaders, including Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, may interact with participants at the workshop, they added.
Such workshops have been organised earlier for state and district leaders, said a BJP spokesperson. This is the first time it is being organised only for party MPs, MLAs and MLCs, said sources.
The BJP has four MPs, 26 MLAs, and seven MLCs in the state. Most of them are first-time legislators and need an orientation course, said a senior leader.
Significantly, the “prashikshan shivir” is being held amid growing disillusionment against BJP ministers and legislators over their alleged conduct, both inside the state legislature as well as with the public.
