RR are just a win or two away from qualifying for the play-offs. It will be interesting to see how SRH approach the remaining campaign from here.
RR (beat DD)
What went right: One thing that is going right for Rajasthan is their opener Ajinkya’s Rahane’s form. The holder of the orange cap with a total of 430 runs, has time and again proved that once he starts going, then there is no looking back. In the previous match against Delhi, Rajasthan’s total of 189 was largely built around Rahane’s unbeaten 91. In his company, Karun Nair too was able to score a handy 61.
What went wrong: Rajasthan’s international bowlers were able to hide the poor show put up by their Indian contingent. Dhawal Kulkarani, Stuart Binny and Rajat Bhatia, each conceded over 10 runs an over against Delhi. Despite putting up a challenging total Rajasthan Rajasthan could win only by 14 runs.
SRH (lost to KKR)
What Went wrong: SRH got off to a really bad start chasing 167. After the first six overs, Hyderabad were already three wickets down. This meant that the middle order had to rebuild the innings while also keeping an eye on the steadily rising required run rate. Hyderabad’s middle order couldn’t manage to either steady the ship or score quickly.
What went right: Their middle-over bowling. Having conceded 55 in the power play, Hyderabad gave just 52 runs in the next eight overs bowled by Karn Sharma and Bipul Sharma.
Conclusion
While RR are just a win or two away from qualifying for the play-offs, it will be interesting to see how SRH, last but one, better their campaign from here.
