Deepika Padukone plays the title of Piku, a Bengali architect living in Delhi with her father playe by Big B. The movie, which has already got a thumbs up from Bollywood celebs, has many elements to look forward to. We give you five reasons to watch this heart melting movie.
1. Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone: Deepika will essay the role of Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter, where the latter plays the role of a 90-year-old. With two such strong actors coming together on screen, one expects fireworks on screen. This is the second time that Deepika will be playing the role of Big B’s daughter after Prakash Jha’s ‘Aarakshan’. it would be great to see their father-daughter chemistry.
2. Irrfan Khan: Known for his acting skills and enforcing reality in his work, Irrfan Khan is the third strong pillar of ‘Piku’. With all his wit and humour on screen, this movie has him play an entirely different role than he has played until now. An actor with the fame of award winning movies like ‘Paan Singh Tomar’, ‘The Lunchbox’ and ‘Life of Pi’, we can expect nothing but the best from him.
3. This is the first time that we will see a glamorous and young actress like Deepika Padukone paired opposite Irrfan Khan who is more of a method actor. Irrfan and Deepika’s odd pairing was the talk of the town but their onscreen chemistry is very evident in the trailers.
4. Shoojit Sircar: In the recent years, film’s director Shoojit Sircar has proved nothing but excellence with his films. He has in the past given us varied movies like ‘Vicky Donor’ and ‘Madras Cafe’.
5. Love for Kolkata: Big B’s character Bhashkor Banerjee can be seen cycling around the old city. Love for Bengal is evident in the movie. The trams and rickshaws on the streets of Kolkata would also be one thing that people would look forward to.
