Anushka Sharma, Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Bombay Velvet’ gets U/A certification with three cuts
‘Bombay Velvet’, which sees Karan Johar play the antagonist, is slated to hit theatres on May 15.
Censor Board’s revising committee has cleared Anurag Kashyap’s next directorial venture ‘Bombay Velvet’ starring Anushka Sharma, Ranbir Kapoor and Karan Johar with a U/A certificate, but only after they edited out a liplock from the movie.
Earlier the censor board had refused to clear ‘Bombay Velvet’ with the UA certificate due to the abusive language, excessive violence and kissing scenes.

The Revising Committee, however, passed the movie with UA certification with three cuts.
According to a report published in Mumbai Mirror, Anurag Kashyap will have to “snip out two cuss words – ‘son of a bitch’ and ‘haramzada’. The members of the RC were far more open-minded than the EC, but even they felt that these two expletives were not suitable for an under-18 audience.”
The third edited scene is that of a passionate kiss between the lead couple – Ranbir and Anushka. The liplock is part of a passionate lovemaking scene between them. “The RC thought it was a little too bold for a film catering to a universal audience,” says the report.
