‘Thank u meherbani shukriya': Salman Khan thanks fans on Twitter

Hours after the Bombay High Court suspended his five-year sentence in the 2002 hit-and-run case and granted him bail pending his appeal against conviction, actor Salman Khan thanked his fans and well-wishers on Twitter.
“All those who prayed for and supported me thank u meherbani shukriya,” he tweeted.

The tweet instantly went viral, getting more than 10,000 retweets in no time.
Salman was convicted on Wednesday on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the 2002 case in which one man had died and four were injured when Khan’s white Toyota Land Cruiser ran over men sleeping on a pavement in suburban Bandra. Soon after the verdict, the High Court had given him interim bail until May 8.

As Salman’s regular bail plea came up for hearing in the Bombay High Court Friday, his fans had gathered outside the court to catch a glimpse of the star, though he had been exempted from appearance.
One of his fans, Gourango Kundu even tried to commit suicide outside the court by consuming a poisonous substance. He was admitted to Gokuldas Tejpal hospital where his condition is stated to be stable.
A huge crowd of his fans had also gathered outside Galaxy Apartments, Salman’s residence in Bandra, and broke into celebrations after hearing the news of him getting bail.
