Many injured in low intensity blast on early morning Kolkata local train
At least 25 people have been injured some of them seriously in an explosion in a local train at Titagarh station about 3.50 am on Tuesday.
It was on the Sealdah main section and the train could have been the first morning local. Titagarh is about 30 km from Kolkata. According to preliminary reports, the blast took place soon after the train left Titagarh station and was heading for Khardaha station, police sources at Lal Bazar headquarters said.
Police, fire brigade and railway rescue teams have rushed to the spot. Train services on the Sealdah-Barrackpore of the main suburban section have been suspended.
Police sources said that preliminary reports indicated that the blast is a low intensity one and could have taken place accidentally while it was being carried in some bag by some passengers.
