5 Questions: Nitin Gadkari should resign, says Congress leader Pramod Tiwari
Congress leader Pramod Tiwari
Congress leader Pramod Tiwari, who gave notice under Rule 267 to suspend business in Rajya Sabha over the CAG report, talks to Vijaita Singh
Why did you give a notice under Rule 267 to suspend the business in Rajya Sabha?
Till the time the CAG report is investigated, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari should resign. His company got subsidies for a particular purpose but his firm did not honour it. We want a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to investigate the CAG report.
But Gadkari already gave a clarification in the House.
His statement is opposite to what the CAG report states, we have rejected it.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has said the protest is a ploy to stall key bills?
We are ready to take up discussion on key bills based on merit. To get it passed is the responsibility of the government, not ours. It is not possible though if corrupt ministers like Gadkari remain in power.
Your party displayed pamphlets, whose idea was it?
It was not planned, it was instantaneous… we did it suo-motu.
Till when do you plan to continue the protest?
Till the time the minister does not tender his resignation, we will protest.
