Nirvikar and the businessman were caught from Khan Market, New Delhi on Thursday. He was produced in the Patiala House Court, Delhi and remanded to two days police custody for further interrogation.
It has been alleged that the said payment of Rs. 15 lakhs was part of Rs 30 lakhs bribe demanded by Nirvikar in the name of SP rank CBI officer in lieu of facilitating undue favour in the trial of a case of fraud pending against the businessman.
“As part of its emphasis on strict internal vigilance drive, the role of the concerned officer of CBI is also being scrutinised”, the CBI spokesperson said.
A case of Disproportionate Assets is already pending against Nirvikar Singh and CBI is investigating the case for the last many years.
Following his arrest on Thursday, CBI also conducted raids at three locations in Delhi and Gurgaon, which led to the recovery of incriminating documents and substantial cash.
