The Bangalore City police have arrested a fake film casting agent on charges of raping an aspiring actress and then blackmailing her with the threat of circulating a video of the alleged rape. The suspect was identified as 30-year old Ehsaan, a resident of Bangalore. The suspect met the actress at a party in Mumbai in March and assured her of a role in a regional Kannada film. He invited her to the city, arranged her flight ticket, and booked her a hotel. Once the young, aspiring actress arrived in Bangalore, Ehsaan contacted her and called her for a screen test to hotel and gave her an advance of Rs 1 lakh through a cheque.

As per the complaint of the actress, the man forced her to consume a drink spiked with sedatives under the pretext of celebrating her entry into the film industry. Police arrested Ehsan from Andhra Pradesh last week. They said that Ehsaan was not a casting agent and that he was a businessman. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rohini Katoch Sepat, who is supervising the case, said police were looking for Ehsaan’s friends who were a part of the crime.
