The job of projecting the government’s achievements on its first anniversary has surprisingly fallen on Piyush Goyal, the Coal and Power Minister. Goyal is coordinating the efforts to put together a booklet highlighting the government’s achievements. A booklet of about 20 pages is being finalised, contrary to earlier plans to bring out a book with hundreds of pages.
Book Pirates
Piracy seems to be a matter of concern, not just for the entertainment industry but for educational boards also. The Central Board of Secondary Education has issued an advisory to all schools affiliated to it regarding the “piracy of textbooks published by NCERT”. In the advisory sent Wednesday, the board has asked schools to disseminate information to parents, teachers and students that would help curb piracy.
To Clap, Or Not
Defence minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday took a dig at the Army Chief’s remarks that soldiers should not clap. Addressing an event in the capital where the audience didn’t clap much, Parrikar remarked, “in the Army, they do not clap”. Earlier, Army Chief Gen Dalbir Singh had said at an Army function that soldiers should not clap after a speech.
