SC status quo on shifting tiger ‘Ustaad’
The Supreme Court Thursday ordered a status quo regarding the relocation of tiger T-24 from Ranthambore National Park to a zoo. The tiger, which had reportedly mauled a security guard to death earlier this month, is being sought to be shifted from the wild into captivity owing to alleged pressure from the tourism lobby thriving around the national park. The bench noted Thursday that a petition against the relocation of T-24, popularly known as ‘Ustaad’, is listed before Rajasthan High Court on May 28. It said there shall be a status quo till the HC takes a call on the plea.
