‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ mints Rs 8.75 cr on day one, looks set for more

The sequel of the 2011 movie ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ – ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ – is all set to become a superhit as apart from earning rave reviews from critics, the movie has managed to amass Rs 8.75 cr on its opening day.
Film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted:

This is only lesser than Akshay Kumar’s ‘Gabbar Is Back’ (Rs 13.05 cr) and ‘Roy’ (Rs 10.40 cr). While ‘Roy’ lost the momentum midway, ‘Gabbar is Back’ has been declared a hit with Rs 82.31 cr lifetime business and still running well at the Box Office.
Deepika Padukone‘s ‘Piku’ earned Rs 5.32 on day one and has amassed Rs 66.57 cr, due to the strong word of mouth.

The movie traces the married life of Tanu and Manu, who got married in the prequel, and how it breaks apart and how they find love again. Their love story has a third wheel in the form of Tanu’s lookalike – Kusum aka Datto.
The concept, screenplay and the acting of the whole starcast are being praised by the audiences and critics alike and hence, ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ looks all set to become a blockbuster in the coming days.
