In their opening Indian Premier League game against Rising Pune Supergiant, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma surprised all by not including a certain Harbhajan Singh in the playing XI. The move not only raised eyebrows, but also handed the former champions a defeat.
Realising their mistake of not playing the senior pro, Sharma brought him back in the next and the Punjab off-spinner showed why he is a champion bowler. After impressing in the Kolkata Knight Riders game at the Wankhede earlier on Sunday Bhajji once again came good for Mumbai Indians — this time against defending champions and in-form Sunrisers Hyderabad at home on Wednesday night.
The offie opened the bowling with the new ball and he did well to concede just two before being hit for back-to-back boundaries in the next over by Hyderabad captain David Warner. Even as Hyderabad looked set for a bigger total, being 81/0 at one stage, Sharma once again introduced Bhajji for his second spell. And guess what? Harbhajan turned the game on its head by getting Warner in second ball of the 11th over before sending back the dangerous Deepak Hooda with a doosra in the next over.
