BSF sacks constable who posted video on ‘bad’ food

Four months after he released a video of alleged “poor quality food” being served to the soldiers, Border Security Force (BSF) Constable Tej Bahadur Yadav was dismissed from services after the Summary Security Force Court (SSFC) found him guilty of indiscipline, insubordination and other charges.

On January 9, Yadav had uploaded videos on his Facebook page alleging they are being served poor-quality food and that they even have to go “empty stomach” at times. The constable showed the visuals of a half-burnt roti and dal in a container with a commentary that it was mere water mixed with turmeric and salt.

The video created a furore, prompting the BSF to order an inquiry into his allegations. Yadav of 29th Battalion posted on Line of Control (LoC) was immediately shifted and attached to the 80th Battalion of BSF in Jammu frontier.

Two months later in March, Yadav posted another video alleging “mental torture for exposing corruption” in the BSF. He asked the countrymen to urge the Prime Minister why he was being tortured and why his VRS (voluntary retirement scheme) had not been granted.
