#PrayBeQuiet: Twitter answers DNA’s clarion call, says public loudspeakers are wrong

While Sonu Nigam shaving his head was the hot topic on Wednesday, the topic began when the singer took to Twitter to question the need for ‘forced religiousness’ in India through loudspeakers.

In several orders, the Supreme Court of India as well as the Bombay High Court have directed that noise pollution rules should be strictly followed. Courts have directed that noise levels at religious places should be controlled in accordance with silence zone norms, where the use of loudspeakers or public address system is not permitted.

Following the singer’s tweet, DNA started a campaign called #PrayBeQuiet to highlight the issue of noise pollution. The campaign picked up, and people on Twitter shared what they felt about the issue.
