19-year-old modelling aspirant robs Rs 7.5 lakh from own home, held
With a burning aspiration to be a model, a 19-year-old girl stole cash and jewellery worth Rs 7.5 lakh from her own house in Harsh Vihar. The girl, and her two friends who planned the robbery with her, were arrested by the Delhi Police on Tuesday.
According to sources, on April 16, the Class XII student offered her mother a glass of milk laced with sedatives. Her father and brother were sleeping on a separate floor, so she did not offer them any milk.
“After her mother fell asleep, she opened the almirah, took out Rs 3.08 lakh in cash, opened the locker with a screwdriver, and took out jewellery including gold bangles, earrings, and nosepins,” a senior police officer said. She then handed over everything to her two friends, identified as Vikas, 19, and Akshay, 20.
The police suspected an insider’s hand in the robbery as there were no signs of a forced entry in to the house. “Neither the almirah was broken nor the house was ransacked,” the officer added.
