DNA SPECIAL: At peak of summer, district courts prepare for winter
While the rest of the Capital is crackling under the blistering sun and most people are busy buying air conditioners and coolers, the management of district courts is thinking ahead. The courts have approached the state government to procure heat convectors.
In a letter sent to the Principal secretary of the Department of Law, Delhi government on April 24, the management of district courts asked for the approval to procure 674 heat convectors, worth Rs 20 lakh, by July this year. The courts had written a letter in this regard in March as well, but the state government’s Finance Department had declined the request at the time, stating that the winter season had already ended.
Apprehensive about further delay in the process, the district courts have now sent a letter to the Principal Secretary, urging him to consider the demand on an urgent basis. The letter, accessed by DNA, stated: “With reference to the letter dated March 15, it was conveyed that the proposal was referred to the Finance Department. After examining the matter, the Finance Department has opined that the peak winter is almost over and returned the proposal with the advice to resubmit the same in the next season.”
