Man breaks roza to help Bihar teenager in need
Some time ago, 17-year-old Vikas Kumar was not even aware that the world observes a day to honour blood donors. This very day, however, has now restored the Madhubani resident’s faith in humanity. Not to mention the commendable generosity of a complete stranger, who broke his Ramzan fast to help Kumar.
Three months ago, Kumar came to the Capital from Bihar with high hopes. The doctors in his district suspected him to be suffering from cancer, and so he decided to visit a prominent hospital in the city. But day by day, three months passed and his treatment at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital did not even begin. Kumar had been asked to get four units of replacement blood for his treatment, which he was unable to procure.
“The hospital authorities told us that first we need to get four units of blood, and then only my brother will be admitted,” said Roshan Kumar, the patient’s 24-year-old brother who works in a spun polyester thread factory. Despite being in the prime of his life, Roshan weighs under 50 kg and was not suitable for blood donation himself.
