Amrutam card: Cancer patient needn’t go in person
On assurance from the high court that she would be issued Mukhyamantri Amrutum Scheme Card at her home in 24 hours of relevant documents being submitted by her family members, a cancer patient withdrew her petition.
Meenaben Parmar, the wife of a labourer, had approached HC last week with a prayer to direct Rajkot district collector to issue Amrutum Scheme Card. Her advocate Jeet Bhatt had submitted before judge GR Udhwani that the petitioner was suffering from cancer and if the Amrutum Scheme Card was not issued, the family would not be able to afford treatment.
On June 8, the judge had asked the government to get information and also provide a solution so that she got timely treatment. A project officer from health department on Thursday assured they would not insist on the bed-ridden patient coming to submit documents, but if her relatives provided the same, the card would be issued within 24 hours.
Earlier, the petitioner had complained the health department was insistent the card would be issued only if she came to the office with documents.
