CRPF officer killed, another injured in Srinagar terror attack
Even before the wounds of lynching of DySP Mohammad Ayub Pandith could heal, terrorists struck again and attacked a CRPF vehicle, leaving an officer dead and another injured on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway at Pantha Chowk in the Srinagar outskirts on Saturday.
Lashkar-e-Taiba has claimed responsibility for the attack. Lashkar spokesman Abdullah Ghazavi issued a statement staking claim for the attack on the CRPF party near Delhi Public School at Pantha Chowk on Saturday.
The incident occurred when Road Opening Party (ROP) of the Alpha Company of 29th battalion of CRPF was withdrawing in the evening. Terrorists emerged near the highway and fired indiscriminately on the bus injuring two soldiers, including a sub-inspector (SI) and a driver.
Both the injured were shifted to the Army’s 92 base hospital where the SI succumbed to his wounds. The slain SI has been identified as Sahab Shukla and the injured driver has been identified as Constable Nissar Ahmad.
Security forces have cordoned off the area as terrorists have fled towards the DPS complex after attacking the CRPF. Reinforcements have been rushed to the area to track down the terrorists who are supposed to be hiding in the vicinity.
