ViewSonic’s new 240Hz gaming monitor may be future-proof
ViewSonic has announced the XG2530, a 25-inch 240Hz gaming monitor, according to 144HzMonitors. The 1080p monitor features a TN panel with a 1ms response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, FreeSync support, two HDMI ports (one 2.0, one 1.4), two USB 3.0 ports, and a DisplayPort.
While 40Hz is undoubtedly an improvement over the plethora of 144Hz monitors, it won’t be a huge leap in smoothness like the jump from 60Hz to 144Hz was, given that game engines don’t support it yet. (That should mean you’ll get a few years out of this as the best gaming monitor you can buy.) With a refresh rate that fast, the XG2530 should be able to get rid of screen tearing entirely when FreeSync is enabled, making it a great monitor for any serious gamer.
