Father-son duo attacks fellow sanitation workers
Two persons sustained injuries after an argument over dumping of garbage took an ugly turn in east Delhi’s Shahdara area on Monday morning. Police are looking for the accused.
The incident took place around 8am on Sunday near the Jain temple, where four sanitation workers were dumping garbage in an open yard. “The incident took place in Seemapuri’s Sunlight Colony. The four contractors were getting waste dumped at the site earmarked for the Public Works Department (PWD),” a senior officer said. Two of them, father and son Shakeel and Kashib, however, objected to the other two — Shakir and Iqbal — dumping the garbage at the site, which led to a scuffle. The father-son duo then allegedly brought out an iron rod and a knife and attacked the other two workers.
One of the victims was stabbed while the other one was hit with the rod. Both victims were taken to hospital, where their condition was stated to be out of danger.
“While Shakir was attacked on the head with the rod, Iqbal was hit on his head and the waist. We have recorded their statements and a probe has been launched to nab the accused,” the officer added.
