A sensitive lady chief minister takes charge of relief operation
An unprecedented rainfall in several parts of South-western Rajasthan has got the Rajasthan government jumping headlong into relief works. Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje is personally monitoring the relief works being carried out by the different agencies such as the state disaster relief force, the local district administration headed by collectors, relief department and the Army.
Raje has ordered the ministers in charge of the four districts, Jalore, Sirohi, Pali and Barmer to supervise the relief operations. “The CM has directed the relief secretary to camp at Jodhpur and monitor the aid being provided to locals,” an official statement from the government said. Due to heavy rains lashing south-west parts of the state, the state administration has requested the Air Force and the Army to help in the rescue operations of the stranded people.
Situation in Pali district continued to detoriate on Monday where Jawai, Sukri and Khari rivers are overflowing. The police have been directed to ask people not to venture close to nullahs and rivers. Meanwhile, the State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) has been deployed in the affected areas.
