UP Opposition holds parallel assembly session to protest government’s budget session
The opposition in Uttar Pradesh on Monday held a parallel assembly session at Lucknow’s Central Hall, boycotting the state government’s budget session for the third day in a row.
The Samajwadi Party, the BSP and the Congress MLAs on Monday ran the parallel assembly proceedings at Central Hall. BSP MLA Lalji Varma acted as speaker, while the Congress member Ajay Kumar alias Lallu played the role of the Leader of the Parallel House.
Ram Govind Chowdhary repeated his role as Leader of Opposition in the unique House. The Parallel House held a condolence meeting to pay tribute to sitting BJP MLA Mathura Prasad Pal who died recently. The Opposition Assembly was adjourned for the day soon after the condolence meeting was over.
The Opposition members have been boycotting the budget session since Thursday accusing Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of gagging their voice when they demanded a debate on deteriorating law and order and unemployment and other important issues plaguing the state.
