Guj Cong gets 100 more office-bearers
Just about three months ahead of the state Assembly elections, the Congress has appointed over 100 more office-bearers to the existing Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee. The party has also appointed committees for election-related works and appointed presidents of various local units.
The All India Congress Committee said on Thursday that vice-president Rahul Gandhi has approved the names of additional office-bearers, executive committee members, 13 presidents of district and city Congress committees, and five assembly election-related committees.
The party has appointed 10 additional vice-presidents to add to the existing eight. Fourteen others have been appointed as general secretaries, taking the total number to 24. Similarly, 63 new secretaries have been appointed to add to the existing 56.
The Congress has also appointed seven more spokespersons, taking the number to 12. Four more have been appointed to the executive committee, while nine others have been appointed as special invitees to the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee.
Election committees formed
The AICC has appointed a three-member Election Manifesto Committee to be headed by Rajya Sabha member Madhusudan Mistry.
