Nintendo’s Yoshiaki Koizumi on Super Mario Odyssey and the future of the Switch
Yoshiaki Koizumi has been the face of the Nintendo Switch ever since its launch event in January, but he’s also been intimately involved with the Super Mario series for decades, serving as assistant director on the groundbreaking Super Mario 64 and directing the subsequent Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy.
That continues with Super Mario Odyssey for the Nintendo Switch, which Koizumi is producing. I got to play it for the first time at this week’s Gamescom trade show in Cologne, Germany, and it’s just as dizzyingly inventive as it appeared earlier this summer.
