Damien Chazelle moves to Netflix with new musical series titled ‘The Eddy’
Damien Chazelle, the Oscar-winning director of La La Land, has kept himself busy with Universal’s Neil Armstrong biopic First Man. But that is not all. He is now directing and exec-producing a musical for Netflix in collaboration with Emmy-winning producer Alan Poul.
Titled The Eddy, the story of the musical drama is set in contemporary multi-cultural Paris revolving around a club, its owner, the house band, and the chaotic city that surrounds them. The eight part series will have two episodes directed by Chazelle. It is written by Jack Thorne who co-wrote Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and is now assisting in rewrites of Star Wars: Episode IX.
The series will be shot in France and feature dialogue in French, English and Arabic. Six-time Grammys-winning composer Glen Ballard will write the music for the series.
Talking about the project, Chazelle said in a statement, “I’ve always dreamed of shooting in Paris, so I’m doubly excited to be teaming up with Jack, Glen and Alan on this story, and thrilled that we have found a home for it at Netflix.”
