Expect more traffic jams on Link Road
Come October, motorists travelling via the already choked Link Road will have to brace for more traffic jams and diversions. Due to the ongoing Metro work for Dahisar-DN Nagar Metro-2A corridor, Metro authorities are now going to barricade the major interchanges on the Link Road between Dahisar and Andheri.
These major interchanges were kept untouched till now, and will be taken for barricading starting October. The interchanges between Dahisar and Andheri connect the Link Road with SV Road and further to the Western Urban Road on the eastern end.
“The reason behind keeping the interchanges untouched was not to disturb the traffic movement completely. We have barricaded the medians (centre) of Link Road and are taking up civil works. But now the untouched portions will also be barricaded,” said a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) who is executing the Metro-2A project for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).
The DMRC official added, “We do not see traffic jams increasing as all the interchanges will not be taken at a time. These, too, will happen in phases and there will be appropriate diversions.
