It’s a matter of the material…
It is a common sight to see a majority of buildings in India where the doors and windows are made from wood or aluminium. But, did you know that there has been a paradigm shift in the material used for fenestrations? Modern buildings have their windows and doors made from what is called un-plasticised polyvinyl chloride (uPVC). The material was commonly used in plumbing and electrical cable insulation but due to the variety of benefits that it offers over wooden or aluminium materials, it has now been modified in making profiles for windows and doors.
What makes uPVC such a great material for fenestrations are its durability and reliability in the Indian market conditions. It offers great resilience, especially in a tropical climate like India’s, where normal wooden and aluminium fenestrations would spoil the look and feel of the windows. Most of the uPVC fenestrations are reinforced with galvanised steel reinforcements incorporated into the windows and doors, which will remain sturdy in all weather conditions and wind loads.
Some of the other major advantages of uPVC windows and doors are its safety and security features, which arise from the ability to integrate multi-point high-security locks into the steel core of the window …read more
