Rahul Gandhi’s close confidante joins BJP on eve of Amit Shah’s Amethi visit
While the Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi is touring Gujarat again, the BJP gave him a big blow in his home turf in Amethi on Monday when one of his trusted lieutenant and close confidante, Jung Bahadur Singh switched loyalty to join the saffron party on the eve of BJP President Amit Shah’s visit to Congress bastion.
Jung Bahadur Singh had resigned as Congress General Secretary only three days ago soon after Rahul Gandhi’s visit to his parliamentary constituency. About half a dozen pradhans, several panchayat members and Congress workers also took the membership of the BJP along with the rebel Congress leader.
The Union Minister and party Lok Sabha candidate in 2014 from Amethi, Smriti Irani visited Singh’s residence and congratulated him. “His own trusted leaders are deserting Rahul Gandhi in his parliamentary constituency. This shows that party men are not happy with his style of development and Congress policies,” pointed the Union Minister.
