Green belt: Encroachments along highways to be removed
Hundreds of dhabas and stalls will have to make space for green belt along the highways passing through urban Jaipur. Kiosks operating on designated parking areas of the city will also have to move out. The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has already asked the occupants to vacate these areas voluntarily. Those failing to vacate will be moved with force and will also be charged the cost incurred by the authority in the process.
A recent high court order has made the development authority intensify its drive against illegal encroachment on roads and parking spaces. The authority as of now through a public notice has extended 30-day period for such occupants to voluntarily vacate the land. Over the period JDA officials will also meet the affected people and convince them to support before enforcement drive takes places.
“Efforts will be made to develop a consensus on the issue, before enforcement drives get initiated,” SP JDA (enforcement) Rahul Jain told DNA.
