Tourists send city cash registers ringing

There was huge rush in the Pink City on Diwali. For the four days 70,000 domestic and foreign tourists arrived in the city to witness the world famous Diwali decorations in Jaipur.

Amber received the highest footfall followed by Nahargarh, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar and Albert Hall.

While foreign tourists made their presence felt on the d-day, domestic tourists especially those from Gujarat flooded the city on the weekend. Since it was a long weekend, tourists had begun to arrive from Wednesday, a day prior to Diwali and reached a record level on 22nd.

Amber earned Rs 56 lakh revenue from 35,804 visitors, Hawa Mahal was visited by 21,212 to generate Rs 29 lakh, Jantar Mantar witnessed 20,932 tourists and earned Rs 26 lakh followed by Nahargarh 16,093 visitors and 18 lakh revenue and Albert Hall museum received 15,375 people for Rs 16 lakh revenue.

The collections were high considering that Amber, Hawa Mahal and Albert Hall were closed on October 19 and 20. However, the number of visitors surpassed 70,000 of which 11,000 went to see just Amber on October 22.Elephant ride, Maotha and Sheesh Mahal were other major attractions.
