West Bengal: Aadhaar for population above 18 years has been achieved, says NPR
As West Bengal got drubbed at the Supreme Court regarding the non-compliance of linking phone number with Aadhaar, officials of National Population Register (NPR) said that 100 per cent generation of Aadhaar for the population over 18 years has been done.
“We are not bothered about what is going on at the political front. We are only carrying out our duty as instructed. Although we are lagging behind in the generation of Aadhaar for population under 18 years of age, where we have covered about 65 per cent, Aadhaar generation for the above-18 population group has been achieved for 100 per cent,” said a senior NPR official, talking to DNA.
He said that with advanced software being used at present, the work was being completed almost free from all technical glitches. “There is no rejection now by the system which initially used to take up a lot of time,” he added.
