Conductor in Ryan case gets bail, to be freed today
A Gurugram court on Tuesday granted bail to Ryan International School’s bus conductor Ashok Kumar, arrested in connection with the murder of the school’s Class II student Pradyuman Thakur, 7, due to lack of evidence against him.
The victim’s family members had objected to giving bail to Kumar, stating that the investigation was not yet over. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is now handling the probe, had also stated that they have not given a clean chit to anyone as of now. Advocate Anil Sharma was present in the court on behalf of Kumar’s lawyer Mohit Verma.
He said that while pronouncing the order, the judge said the CBI has not submitted any incriminating evidence that could connect him to the case directly. “The bail was granted under Article 21 of the Indian Constitution, which states that everyone has the right to personal liberty and life,” Sharma said.
Speaking to DNA over the phone, Verma said Kumar’s bail is a positive sign. “Our main aim is to make sure that he comes out clean in the case,” he said.
