Shopian | Territorial army jawan, on vacation, killed by terrorists in J&K
Terrorists sent a chilling reminder to Mehbooba Mufti-led government on Saturday when they killed an army soldier on leave at Wothmula village in the Shopian district of sensitive south Kashmir.
Sepoy Irfan Ahmad Dar of 175 Territorial Army (Engineers), had left home at Senzen village in his car on Friday but did not return. On Saturday morning his bullet riddled body was found in an orchard in nearby Wothmula village in the Shopian district.
Superintendent of Police(SP), Shopian, Ambarkar Shriram Dinkar told DNA that preliminary investigation reveal that he was not abducted but shot dead by the militants since he had left home for work in his car.
“His car was found nearby and his key was in his pocket. It does not look like kidnapping. It is militant action and we have registered a case and hunt is on to nab the militants”, Shriram said.
Dar, 23, was posted in Gurez sector along the Line of Control in North Kashmir’s Bandiproa district. He had come home on leave few days before and was driving his own car when he went missing. “He was a Sepoy posted in some engineering wing of the army at Gurez”, said Shriram.
