Rajasthan upset Vidarbha to qualify for Super League
In a major upset Team Rajasthan defeated Ranji Trophy champions Vidarbha by six wickets in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tie in Raipur on Saturday. With this fourth win on the trot in the championship, Rajasthan not only topped the Central Zone but also made it to the Super League.
It was a good toss to lose for Rajasthan as Vidarbha batsmen looked out of sorts against the speed trio of Aniket Choudhary, Deepak Chahar and Khaleel Ahmed who restricted Vidarbha to a modest total of 131 runs. Right-arm pacer Deepak Chahar and left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed scalped 2 wickets apiece.
Rajasthan’s chase began on a disastrous note as four wickets fell in quick succession which included three run outs. However, opener Ankit and TN Dhillon brought sanity to the proceedings and steadied the innings to take the team home. Ankit remained undefeated at 51 which included three fours and a six while Dhillon made quicksilver 26 not out.
