South Africa v/s India: Graeme Smith questions Virat Kohli’s captaincy skills
Former South Africa captain Graeme Smith questioned Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s leadership style after Men in Blue lost the Test series against Proteas.
Smith, while talking to reporters ahead of the Wanderers Test said that he wonders if Virat Kohli is a long-term captaincy option for India. He said, “You can be the best player in the world, and you love that intensity and you often don’t think what your team-mates are going through.”
Smith, who first led Proteas at the age of 22 said that he feels Kohli’s opinions go unchallenged in the dressing room. He added that it could do Kohli some good if different ideas were presented to the Delhi lad in a constructive way, reports NDTV.
“I think if he had a really constructive person in his environment, who could talk to him, make him think, maybe even challenge him with some different ideas, in a constructive way, not an angry or aggressive way, but make him think, open his eyes to other possibilities, that would make him a really good leader,” Smith said.
