Swachh Survekshan sweeps away Hatwara
Until the Swachh Survekshan-2018 (clean survey) is completed, the Jaipur Municipal Corporation has banned the weekly markets (Hatwara), which is located at various places in the city. After the clean survey is completed, the corporation will regulate these Hatwaras and issue licenses to the shopkeepers.
A meeting of the representatives of Hatwara Samitis and municipal officials was held at the municipal headquarters under the chairmanship of mayor Ashok Lahoti on Thursday. In this meeting, only representatives of the old Delhi Bypass Hatwara Committee were involved. While addressing the representatives of Hatwara committee, the mayor said Hatwara creates mess due to unorganised shops. JMC will organise a particular place for Hatwara. Licenses and ID cards will be issued to all shopkeepers.
Significantly, Hatwara is held on Delhi Bypass every Thursday. While there was municipal corporation permit for 200 shops for Hatwara. There are more than 2,000 vendors at the weekly market. Due to which traffic becomes stagnant on Delhi Bypass making it accident prone.
The municipal corporation sent Vigilance Cell on Thursday morning to stop the weekly market.
