Kasganj, the communal violence-hit town in Western Uttar Pradesh, is limping back to normalcy. The traders from both communities have agreed to open the markets in the town.

1: The residents, who were forced to stay inside their houses, are now coming out for essential items such as milk, bread and vegetables.
2: Kasganj District Magistrate RP Singh has partially restored the internet services in the area. Talking about the Republic Day clashes, Singh said that provocative sloganeering by both communities led to the violence.
3: On Monday, UP Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar is likely to visit Kasganj to hand over a cheque of Rs 20 lakh to the family of Chandan Gupta, sole casualty in the clashes.
4: Main accused of the clashes, Shakeel is still on the run. The police have detained over 100 miscreants with 9 being names in FIRs.
5: Addressing the media on Monday, Uttar Pradesh Minister Sidharth Nath Singh said that, ‘have seen reports that shops are opening now and situation is returning to normalcy. It is a good sign.’
