Machil sector: Three soldiers killed in avalanche
Tragedy hit Indian army on Friday when a massive avalanche swept away their post killing three soldiers and injuring another along the Line of Control (LoC) in Machil sector of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
The incident occurred in late afternoon when a massive snow avalanche buried four soldiers who were manning a strategic post at the Sonapindi Gali along the LoC in the Machil sector.
Indian army rescuers launched a swift operation to locate the soldiers. However one of the soldiers died on the spot while two succumbed while being evacuated to the hospital. Another soldier was injured in the incident and he has been referred to hospital for treatment. “Today in an unfortunate incident of avalanche in Machil sector, the Army lost three valiant soldiers”, said an army spokesman at Srinagar. Indian army clarified that no soldier is missing in the avalanche. There is one injured and no one is missing”, said the spokesman.
