Dalit accuses Union minister Giriraj Singh of land grab, abuse
BJP minister Giriraj Singh was on Thursday accused — along with 32 others — in an FIR of illegally grabbing a plot of land that belongs to a Dalit. The accused are also charged with abusing the complainant with caste-based slurs.
An FIR was registered against the Nawada MP and Union MSME minister in the Danapur Police Station in Patna. The accused are charged with illegally and fraudulently grabbing an over two-acre piece of land in the Asapur village of Danapur. The complaint was filed under IPC and Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Meanwhile, a political slugfest erupted over the issue, as RJD’s Tejashwi demanded Singh be dropped from the council of ministers.
“I ask PM Narendra Modi to remove him as Union Minister. I want to ask the stance of BJP government and Nitish Kumar, who used to talk about zero tolerance against corruption and benami properties. What are they doing in this regard? Why is Sushil Modi, who always holds a press conference, quiet on this issue?” said Tejashwi.
