Justin Trudeau is coming to India this week: All you must know about Canadian PM’s visit
A step that could bolster India-Canada relationship, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be in India for a 7-day visit this week. He is scheduled to visit India from February 17 to February 23.
“Canada and India share a special bond, and are linked by tremendous people-to-people connections. The more than one million Canadians of Indian origin make the relationship between our two countries a truly special one. I look forward to meeting with Prime Minister Modi, and further strengthening the Canada-India friendship,” Trudeau was quoted as saying.
“Our two countries share much in common, including a commitment to diversity, democracy, freedom, and the rule of law,” he added.
The Canadian government in its official statement hoped that the upcoming visit will help “create good middle-class jobs for Canadians and Indians alike”. It also said that both the countries will hold discussion on ”cooperation in security and counter-terrorism as well as exchange of views on global and regional issues of mutual interest”.
During his visit, the Canadian leader will hold meeting with Indian leaders in government and business and also promote women, girl empowerment and is set to strengthen India and Canada’s economic ties.
