Alert officials warn driver of damaged railway tracks; major mishap averted in Bihar
A major train mishap was averted on Tuesday after official patrolling railways tracks in Bihar’s Khagaria district detected a damaged track and alerted the train driver just before the New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express was to pass through the area.
The official placed a detonator and ran with a banner flag to stop the train.
The train proceeded after the fractured railway track was repaired by engineering staff of the railways.
The incident took place at around 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
Earlier this month, at least four persons were killed and one other was grievously injured when a passenger train ran over them while crossing tracks on a rail-bridge in Bihar’s Siwan district on Friday.
The deceased were a part of a group of pilgrims from neighbouring Gopalganj district, who were on their way to perform a ritual at a ‘ mazaar ‘. They were identified as Khushboo Nishan, Jhuni Khatoon, Saraswati Devi and Aslam Ansari. A child, Munna, was also seriously injured and referred to Patna for further treatment.
