Army extricates 9 more bodies from Beawar debris
Army columns helped clear debris and recover nine bodies from the collapsed building at Beawar, Rajasthan on Sunday. Following the mishap during marriage celebrations in a guest house due to cylinder blast on 16 February, army was finally requisitioned by state administration on February 17 at 7:40 PM. Once requisitioned, Brigadier GS Cheema reached the spot immediately and Army columns from Nasirabad started arriving at the site within an hour.
Army task forces spearheaded by Brigadier Pawan Chadha, comprising of approximately 100 engineer and other personnel alongwith specialist engineer equipment commenced work at about 10:00 PM. After visual and manual search for survivors, plant equipment was used to clear debris and rubble and a pathway was created upto likely location of victims. Thereafter, Steel cutting and Rock drill teams were employed throughout the night for locating survivors and extrication.
Working round the clock, army teams completed operations by 1:30 PM on Sunday and helped recover nine bodies from the rubble. The teams moved back to Nasirabad after 2:30 PM. The Health Minister of Rajasthan, IG Police, DIG NDRF and DC Ajmer were also present at the site.
