Gauri Lankesh murder: Reports of arresting prime accused false, says SIT
A news item claiming the identity of the main accused in the murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh has been debunked by the Bengaluru police.
Television reports cited that one KT Naveen, founder the Hindu Yuva Sena, hailing from Maddur in Mandya district had been identified and arrested by the SIT that was formed by the Bengaluru police to identify Gauri’s killers.
However, debunking the rumour, DCP West Bengaluru said that the report was false and that no arrest had been made.

In October 2017, the SIT identified the two suspects and released their sketches.
“Based on the information, we made the sketches. We want co-operation from people, so releasing the sketches of the suspects,” said BK Singh, who is heading the SIT.
The police said that there are two suspects and sketches were similar because they were made by two artists based on different eyewitness accounts.
Singh also said that they have investigated 200-250 people in connection with the case.
