Another Kashmir youth shuns terror after mum’s plea
Mother’s love won again as another youth renounced the path of violence and reunited with his family in Kashmir.
Dr Shesh Paul Vaid, DGP, Jammu and Kashmir, tweeted, “Another young boy responding to the appeals of crying mother returned to the fold of family leaving path of violence in the valley. I wish the family happy re-union.”
The identity of the youth has been kept confidential due to the security reasons. This is the fifth youth who has heeded to the family’s call and left the path of violence to join the mainstream.
In a written reply in the Legislative Council, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who also holds the home portfolio, said, “Efforts are being made to counsel the families of militants to convince their wards to give up violence.”
The trend started in November 2017 after a 20-year-old footballer turned militant Majid Khan returned after the video of his mother pleading him to return went viral.
