AIBC holds welcome reception for newly appointed High Commissioner of India and Consul General India, Sydney
It was an honour to be invited to the joint welcome reception for Mr. Gopal Baglay, High Commissioner of India to Australia, and Dr. S. Janakiraman, Consul General India, Sydney.
This amazing event was organised by the Australia India Business Council (AIBC) and that too in the NSW Parliament House, the oldest Parliament house in Australia.
AIBC NSW President Irfan Malik welcomed everyone in attendance as the host of the evening, followed by an address by Jodi McKay, National Chair of AIBC.
It was such a nice surprise to see the Premiere of NSW, Chris Minns, make a special appearance to welcome both the High Commissioner and Consul General to Australia.
His Excellency Mr. Gopal Baglay delivered his address and provided some context about his challenging posts in the past in Ukraine, Russia, UK, Nepal, and Pakistan (as Deputy High Commissioner). Mr. Baglay’s address was straight from the heart and during our little interaction we could tell he genuinely wanted to do something to improve the lives of new and potential Indian migrants that wish to come to Australia.
Consul General India – Dr. S. Janakiraman, followed up with his address and highlighted the importance of strengthening the already strong relations between India and Australia further, especially with the state of NSW to improve the business and economic ties between the two countries.
This is surely an exciting time for the relations between these two countries that we love to further evolve for the betterment of all. We have high hopes from this dynamic and powerful duo that we got to witness yesterday.
